I got nothing today, so here's another meme I stole from Hammer. List 5 things you haven't revealed about yourself yet on your blog.
1. When I was a kid (wait, that's a different meme)...anyway, I helped my dad rob bees all the time. Sometimes we did it for other people who owned bees but didn't want to do the work. This one old lady in Floresville had a bunch of really nasty semi-wild bees, and I got attacked by them. I was stung probably 15-20 times in about 5 seconds, all the way from the top of my head down to my ankles. I built up such a tolerance to bee stings that after that I could get stung by a bee and be bothered about as much as if a mosquito had bitten me. Honeybee stings still don't bother me very much. About the only thing that really gets me these days is a red wasp sting.
2. I've never had a cavity or a broken bone. Several of what the doctor always called a "hairline fracture," but not a real break.
3. People who see me for the first time often think I'm many years younger than I am, especially if I'm recently clean-shaven and have no stubble. It has been a long time since I was last carded, though. The last time I was carded while buying liquor was when I was 37. When I was 30 I bought a Slayer tape and the music store carded me to make sure I was over 18.
4. I know I've mentioned before that I like jazz. I also really enjoy listening to new age/electronica/trance/ambient or whatever you want to call it.
5. For several years during the 80s and early 90s I practiced yoga regularly, doing a session of one to two hours almost every day. This included not only the physical "stretches" (or asanas), but pranayama (breathing) and meditation as well. I would still do it if I could get an hour a day completely undisturbed and alone, but that hasn't happened in a long time. I don't have enough floor space in this house, either. I still practice stillness and deep breathing whenever I can. Oh, and before anyone asks, no, I never got into trantric yoga. Although someone did volunteer to help me with that, many moons ago.
Bonus thing #6: Back when I was a yogi, I could consciously and willfully stop myself from hiccuping. No kidding. I'm out of practice now, and I can't do it every time anymore.
