About This Blog
The right to keep and bear arms, occasional attempts at satire, frequent recourse to sarcasm, and anything else I can think of. Oh yeah, and pipe smoking. Sometimes H.P. Lovecraft. And obscure Monty Python references when applicable.

There's a war going on, all right

Phyllis Schlafly poses the question: Is A War Going On In Texas?: If you don't have access to Texas newspapers or the internet, you may not have heard the sensational news about the enormous cache of weapons just seized in Laredo, Texas. U.S. authorities grabbed two completed Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), materials for making 33 more, military-style grenades, 26 grenade triggers, large quantities of AK-47 and AR-15 assault rifles, 1,280 rounds of ammunition, silencers, machine gun assembly kits, 300 primers, bullet-proof vests, police scanners, sniper scopes, narcotics, and cash. She also states: "We wonder what our government is doing to fulfill its duty to 'protect
each of them [the states] against invasion,' as called for in the U.S.
Constitution, Article IV."Our government seems only to adhere to the "no importa a nadie" policy of border control. Or, as Sgt. Schulz might say, "I see nothingk!"Reports like this worry me more than just about anything else these days. There's an evil black cloud roiling and building steam down there, and one of these days it's going to explode straight up I-35 and there's going to be a huge mess--to put it lightly. Border agent busted for smuggling illegal aliens

I have to blame Mr. Codrea for starting my hobby of watching for stories like this: He was supposed to protect the borders from illegal immigrants, instead a former U.S. Customs and Border Patrol officer will be sent to prison for letting them into this country for a price.42-year old Fabian Solis was sentenced to 36 months in prison for conspiring to smuggle illegal immigrants into the Unites States for money. Meanwhile, near San Diego: An incomplete tunnel was found in the same area where investigators recently found one of the longest passages discovered beneath the U.S.-Mexico border, officials said. The 3-foot-wide tunnel extended from just south of the border fence in Mexico to a point about 23 feet into the United States, ending at a concrete levee, Border Patrol spokesman Richard Kite said.A patrol agent noticed a distortion in the road running along the border fence, and agents digging in the area found the tunnel Thursday, Kite said."It was only about 6 inches below the asphalt," he said.
