A chronicle of vile and pernicious truths.
About This Blog
The right to keep and bear arms, occasional attempts at satire, frequent recourse to sarcasm, and anything else I can think of. Oh yeah, and pipe smoking. Sometimes H.P. Lovecraft. And obscure Monty Python references when applicable.

View Article  Wives & Guns
Shooter's post at parallax adjustment (Six Gun Swede) reminds me of something that happened a while back. My wife is not really afraid of guns, but she is wary of them. I had just bought a used S&W Model 28, the Highway Patrolman model in .357. I loaded it up with some .38 Special for the wife the shoot. I threw a Pepsi can out in the back yard and we backed off about 10 yards. Her first shot went right through the middle of the can. I said, "Wow, you drilled it right through the middle!" Her response: "But I was aiming at the big P."
View Article  Arrest for committing felony is not a violation of civil rights.
The Center for Human Rights and Constitutional Law says that arresting someone for committing a felony is a violation of their civil rights, but Special Assistant County Attorney Barnett Lotstein (Maricopa County, AZ) disagrees:
Special Assistant County Attorney Barnett Lotstein said Thomas' office is sticking by its decision.

"We are confident that the decision we made with regard to Haab was appropriate," Lotstein said. "He did not break the law, and we do not prosecute someone if they're not breaking the law just to make a point. That's what some people want us to do."

Arizona's citizen's arrest law allows a person to arrest someone committing a felony, and in Haab's case, one of the illegal immigrants was smuggling humans and the other six were conspiring with him, both federal felonies, Thomas has said.
As usual, emphasis mine.

In Search of the Second Amendment

The TRUE story of the American right to arms is told by some of the greatest names in American constitutional law -- professors at Yale, UCLA, Fordham, George Washington University, George Mason University, and other institutions, as well as by lifelong scholars of the Second Amendment, such as Steve Halbrook, Dave Kopel, and Don Kates.
