A chronicle of vile and pernicious truths.
About This Blog
The right to keep and bear arms, occasional attempts at satire, frequent recourse to sarcasm, and anything else I can think of. Oh yeah, and pipe smoking. Sometimes H.P. Lovecraft. And obscure Monty Python references when applicable.

View Article  Predicting the present
BBC:
But in the nearer future, humans will evolve in 1,000 years into giants between 6ft and 7ft tall, he predicts, while life-spans will have extended to 120 years, Dr Curry claims.

Physical appearance, driven by indicators of health, youth and fertility, will improve, he says, while men will exhibit symmetrical facial features, look athletic, and have squarer jaws, deeper voices and bigger penises.

Women, on the other hand, will develop lighter, smooth, hairless skin, large clear eyes, pert breasts, glossy hair, and even features, he adds. Racial differences will be ironed out by interbreeding, producing a uniform race of coffee-coloured people.

However, Dr Curry warns, in 10,000 years time humans may have paid a genetic price for relying on technology.

Spoiled by gadgets designed to meet their every need, they could come to resemble domesticated animals.
They could, huh?

Paragraph #3 above gives me the feeling this guy is just engaging in some wishful thinking based on his wet dreams.

SWAT officers exonerated in fatal shooting of suspected drug dealer:
Attorney Michael Dutko, who represented Detectives Sean Visners and Andre Bruna, the SWAT officers who shot Diotaiuto, said the officers were not responsible.

"No one will ever know, maybe, why he [Diotaiuto] chose to pull a gun under those circumstances," he said.
Since he was suspected, he was automatically guilty.  That's the way the war on civilians drugs works.

No one will ever know, eh?  It's dark.  A group of thugs force their way into your house.  They give no verbal warning or identification, and it's too dark to see who they are.  I'd start shooting too.

This was murder.  Somebody is going to burn in hell for it.

I got home early today so I've spent the last hour plus working on this.  Not a final design, because the bottom looks kind of empty, but it's good for a start.  Also, not that this will ever happen, but the explanation for this is that it's my graphic design for a tobacco tin.  That's why it's round.

I usually save these as jpgs to save space but I saved this one as a png so it would preserve the transparent background and not make the text fuzzy like a jpg does.  So it's bigger than usual.  I still have much higher res versions of this in various stages, this is just one that's sized down to fit in the column here.

Also, I wanted to wrap some of the text along the bottom curve, but if there's a way to do that, I can't figure it out.

I have some other fake quotes to put in place of the "Lane's 1-Q" thing.

Feel free to offer suggestions.

Lane's 1-Q is a very bland, sweet, mild vanilla Cavendish (urk).  It's quite popular, among pipe smokers who like that sort of thing.

You Are 64% Cynical
You're a full blown cynic... and probably even skeptical of these results.
You have your optimistic moments, but most likely you keep them to yourself.

I think the only reason it isn't higher is because of the way some of the questions were worded.  If the phrasing had been slightly different, my answers may have been different.

I think of myself as a skeptic rather than a cynic.  I learned long ago that everything I perceive must be filtered and evaluated.

In Search of the Second Amendment

The TRUE story of the American right to arms is told by some of the greatest names in American constitutional law -- professors at Yale, UCLA, Fordham, George Washington University, George Mason University, and other institutions, as well as by lifelong scholars of the Second Amendment, such as Steve Halbrook, Dave Kopel, and Don Kates.
