A chronicle of vile and pernicious truths.
About This Blog
The right to keep and bear arms, occasional attempts at satire, frequent recourse to sarcasm, and anything else I can think of. Oh yeah, and pipe smoking. Sometimes H.P. Lovecraft. And obscure Monty Python references when applicable.

Or be crushed, be crushed, by...
His jolly boots of doom.

One of my favorite shows is Invader Zim.  Allegedly a kid's cartoon, I think its creator had more adult viewers in mind.  The humor, it seems to me, is often too bleak and complicated for kids.  The people of earth, in Zim's world, are utterly oblivious to anything even slightly out of the ordinary.  They simply refuse to believe, or are too stupid to believe, that anything could happen differently from the way they have been indoctrinated into believing how things are.  Sound familiar?  And for anyone who has doubts about our current educational system, you really should watch it enough to see their version of "Skool."

Zim's race, supposedly superior to humans, obviously has its own problems.  For example, their leader is chosen not by ability or even charisma, but simply by who happens to be the tallest.  But since our own leaders seem to be chosen not by ability or even charisma, but simply by who can sling enough money around, I guess it's not that much different.

Anyhoo, if you've never seen this show, Nick is re-running the Christmas special every night until Christmas at 10:00 or 11:00, depending on your time zone.  They show other episodes late at night also.

And here is a site that has a bunch of Zim audio files, searchable by character, and includes the "Jolly boots of doom" song from the Christmas show.

P.S.  My shoulder is doing better, but is still bothering me so I haven't been spending a lot of time at the computer.  Oddly, the position of my arm while typing isn't as painful as when I'm just sitting still reading.  I haven't really been checking my usual news searches or any of that stuff.  Anything important that has happened gets covered by the bigger bloggers anyway.  So maybe I'll just try to focus on writing for a while, since it seems that a few people enjoy reading my ramblings, for some reason.

P.P.S.  I ordered my DVD from David Hardy.  Looking forward to seeing it.

The "*pipe smoker live longer" is a reference to the 1964 Surgeon General's Report on smoking.  A couple of articles about this report can be read here and here.

In Search of the Second Amendment

The TRUE story of the American right to arms is told by some of the greatest names in American constitutional law -- professors at Yale, UCLA, Fordham, George Washington University, George Mason University, and other institutions, as well as by lifelong scholars of the Second Amendment, such as Steve Halbrook, Dave Kopel, and Don Kates.
