A chronicle of vile and pernicious truths.
About This Blog
The right to keep and bear arms, occasional attempts at satire, frequent recourse to sarcasm, and anything else I can think of. Oh yeah, and pipe smoking. Sometimes H.P. Lovecraft. And obscure Monty Python references when applicable.

View Article  Another poke in the eye for CA gun-banners
AmmoGuide's "poke California in the eye" edition mentions the .510 DTC EUROP.  This cartridge is competitive with the .50 BMG but, under California law, is legal there.
Approximately five years ago due to similar laws in Europe, Mr. Eric Danis, owner of Dan Tec France, of France developed the 510 DTC EUROP .50 caliber cartridge. The 510 DTC EUROP cartridge was discussed in the 2000-1 Fifty Caliber Shooter's Assn. (FCSA) High Power magazine as being comparable to the .50 BMG cartridge for 1000 yard match competition.

[...]

The 510 DTC EUROP case is .100 of an inch shorter than the .50 BMG case, and has an 18-½ degree shoulder compared to the BMG’s 15-degree shoulder. The 510 DTC EUROP case measures .760 diameter at the top of the shoulder compared to the BMG’s measurement of .715 inch. The 510 DTC EUROP cartridge utilizes a .510-inch diameter projectile such as the Hornady 750 grain A-MAX. The 510 DTC EUROP case has the same volume of powder capacity as the .50 BMG and has 1000-yard accuracy comparable to the BMG.

Simply stated, the 510 DTC EUROP is slightly fatter, straighter, steeper, and shorter than the BMG. Importantly, the .50 BMG cartridge will not chamber in the 510 DTC EUROP chamber and conversely, the 510 DTC EUROP will not chamber in the BMG chamber.
One company that is promoting the cartridge is E.D.M. Arms of Redlands, CA.

View Article  The City of New Orleans admits it
All those seized firearms that they kept denying they had?  They have now admitted to their lie.
In a stunning reversal, the City of New Orleans revealed today to attorneys representing the Second Amendment Foundation and National Rifle Association that they do have a stockpile of firearms seized from private citizens in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

The disclosure came as attorneys for both sides were preparing for a hearing in federal court on a motion filed earlier by SAF and NRA to hold the city in contempt. Plaintiffs’ attorneys traveled to a location within the New Orleans city limits where they viewed more than 1,000 firearms that were being stored.
The video evidence, as far as I know, is only of one or two persons getting their firearms confiscated.  I'm looking forward to seeing just how many people this happened to, and just how big the lie is.

In Search of the Second Amendment

The TRUE story of the American right to arms is told by some of the greatest names in American constitutional law -- professors at Yale, UCLA, Fordham, George Washington University, George Mason University, and other institutions, as well as by lifelong scholars of the Second Amendment, such as Steve Halbrook, Dave Kopel, and Don Kates.
