About This Blog
The right to keep and bear arms, occasional attempts at satire, frequent recourse to sarcasm, and anything else I can think of. Oh yeah, and pipe smoking. Sometimes H.P. Lovecraft. And obscure Monty Python references when applicable.

Only because I love nit-picking and pointing out silly mistakes by "professional" journalists: just read the first sentence.
In another instance which I heard on the radio this morning, the morning news update person on NPR used the word "apostasy." Except she pronounced it "AP-oh-STAY-see." If it weren't for professionals, who would we amateurs make fun of?

I shot some targets for this match, but my results were so bad that I didn't submit. If I had, I would have been #27, but not by much.
The good side is, this has convinced me that I need to take more drastic measures to spend more range time. I have resolved to hit the range once per week, every Friday after work. Except this week it looks like I'll actually be able to go on Saturday. Anyway, go check out the Mr. Completely e-Postal Handgun Match "VORTEX" Results.

I mentioned in a comment on another blog what I call a "diagnostic target." I didn't create these, and unfortunately I don't even remember where I found them because I've had them for so long.
These are both *.pdf files, but they aren't that huge (about 120k). They may help in figuring out what you may be doing wrong with your grip or trigger pull. If anyone knows who created these, please say so in comments and I will update the post. Left Handed Right Handed

Info at WFAA.com.
I'm really waiting to see what happens on this, because it seems to me that they have only two possible arguments: 1) This is an unjust law. The law should be changed so that revocation occurs when someone is convicted for a felony. 2) He's special. The law shouldn't apply to him like it does to everyone else. We'll see which one they choose. A DPS spokewoman pefectly highlighted this guilty-until-proven-innocent bit of Texas law: Tela Mange, a DPS spokeswoman, said any person whose license is suspended may reclaim the license if they are acquitted or the case is dismissed. |
