Ballistic Technology has introduced a new ballistic testing material that looks fairly promising, I think. Follow the link to read about their new Bullet Test Tube (Total Understanding of Bullet Expansion).
Having just read some of the website, it looks like this is a much easier to use alternative to ballistic gelatin. It can also be re-used. Low heat on an oven burner will turn it into liquid (it liquifies at 170 degrees), which is then poured back into the mold/cast and allowed to solidify as it cools to ambient temperature. Works best between 70-74 degrees F, and is dense enough to hold its core temperature for an hour even exposed outdoors.
The website has information on how it is used, and how it can be re-used. Very interesting. The prices don't look bad, either, especially considering it's reusable.
Thanks to The Shooting Wire.

Apparently, this AP reporter doesn't even read what he writes himself. The article is titled as above. However, according to the report:
Robin Key, 44, of Riverview, Fla., was shot through the windshield of the car she was riding in Sunday. She said she felt a searing pain in her shoulder.Hey, AP guy, she wasn't saved by the seat belt and bra. She was saved because the bullet had to go through a windshield first.

A short opinion piece in the The Clarion-Ledger adds a couple of new points of light:
If Jackson Mayor Frank Melton was already in good legal standing as a "certified police officer," why did he suddenly apply for a concealed weapons permit ( "AG probe of Melton not 'over,' " May 4)?Previous posts here. So it appears that my first assessment--that he is nothing more than a thug with legal backing--is correct. |
