
Since I have such a surplus of these things now, I might post them more often. This is one that I just snagged from the internet; I don't have a hard copy of it. This was an ad from The Literary Digest of July 14, 1917.
So the American Boy of 1812 is using a muzzle loading rifle, unsupervised except for his trusty dog. Yet in 1917 the American Boy is reduced to using a BB gun. I can't help but think that someone somewhere should have already seen that something was going wrong.
Still, note the faux bayonet on the lower air rifle.
