A chronicle of vile and pernicious truths.
About This Blog
The right to keep and bear arms, occasional attempts at satire, frequent recourse to sarcasm, and anything else I can think of. Oh yeah, and pipe smoking. Sometimes H.P. Lovecraft. And obscure Monty Python references when applicable.

View Article  Vintage Gun Ad: 1917 Daisy Air Rifles

Since I have such a surplus of these things now, I might post them more often.  This is one that I just snagged from the internet; I don't have a hard copy of it.  This was an ad from The Literary Digest of July 14, 1917.

So the American Boy of 1812 is using a muzzle loading rifle, unsupervised except for his trusty dog.  Yet in 1917 the American Boy is reduced to using a BB gun.  I can't help but think that someone somewhere should have already seen that something was going wrong.

Still, note the faux bayonet on the lower air rifle.

Okay, I finished updating the links to the vintage gun ads, and that's enough for tonight.

I also noticed that the firearms news feeds in the sidebar were hanging up and causing the page not to load, so I removed them.

Nothing today because I'm working on getting most of the graphics hosted at photobucket.  I did set up the usual weekend posts already, and will probably get back to normal tomorrow.

Also I found another possible cartridge for the Wincester 94 and I need to do some research on it.

In Search of the Second Amendment

The TRUE story of the American right to arms is told by some of the greatest names in American constitutional law -- professors at Yale, UCLA, Fordham, George Washington University, George Mason University, and other institutions, as well as by lifelong scholars of the Second Amendment, such as Steve Halbrook, Dave Kopel, and Don Kates.
