Philadelphia:
A police officer had two girls shoplift for her and then lied about her name and occupation when the group was apprehended, prosecutors charged.

Renell Cohen, 35, picked out bras that were later stolen by the girls when they left a Wal-Mart at the Franklin Mills Mall, authorities said.

Security cameras were trained on the group during the July store visit after an assistant manager thought Cohen was acting suspiciously.

Cohen, a four year veteran of the police department, was fired Tuesday, the same day theft, corruption of minors and other charges were upheld against her at a preliminary hearing in Family Court.

The girls told authorities they were between 14 and 16.

"The facts of this case are really troubling," Assistant District Attorney Janet Turnbull said.

The girls stole merchandise worth $259.52, while Cohn went on to purchase goods worth about $87.

Hee hee.  Sometimes a great pun just falls right into your lap.
View Article  Oh yeah, and Dad's new dog
My dad has decided the dog I mentioned in this post is a keeper.  Putting our heads together, we have decided that some moron dumped a perfectly nice, friendly half Doberman, half Black & Tan hound on his doorstep.  What a dog!  Some people have all the luck.
View Article  Out to eat
Dad took the family out to eat tonight at Maverick's, a steakhouse on highway 181 in the community of Oak Hills between Floresville and San Antonio.  He said it was good, and he was right.  The waitress even kept my glass of iced tea full, which is always a challenge for any waitress.

And somehow, the .357 magnum inside my waistband did not leap out and began spraying 125-grain brass-jacketed hollowpoints at random into the crowd.

It's a good thing I wasn't carrying the XD.  I would have never had enough room to finish that steak.

Tnx to Mr. Weebles for the link.

If anyone is keeping track.  The old forwarding service was getting way too clogged with spam, so it was time to move on.  I suppose eventually this one will too, but I can always delete it and create a new one.  It's saved as a graphic so you can't cut and paste it, of course.  Maybe that will help keep them at bay for a little while.

In Search of the Second Amendment

The TRUE story of the American right to arms is told by some of the greatest names in American constitutional law -- professors at Yale, UCLA, Fordham, George Washington University, George Mason University, and other institutions, as well as by lifelong scholars of the Second Amendment, such as Steve Halbrook, Dave Kopel, and Don Kates.
