A chronicle of vile and pernicious truths.
About This Blog
The right to keep and bear arms, occasional attempts at satire, frequent recourse to sarcasm, and anything else I can think of. Oh yeah, and pipe smoking. Sometimes H.P. Lovecraft. And obscure Monty Python references when applicable.

View Article  Yahoo shuts down anti-illegal immigration discussion group
Free Constitution has all the info.  No warning, no explanation, except that they shut it down because they can.

When your side is wrong and the truth is against you, political correctness and censorship are your friends.
View Article  Tobacco blending update
The last batch of experiment #1 that I had mixed up was finally sampled today, after several days to let the flavors meld.  It was much better.  The Perique had become part of the blend instead of standing out on its own.

The next step is mixing up three more batches with varying strengths of Perique, vacuum sealing them, and letting them age for at least a month.

I gotta say, if by some slim chance this blend does get accepted into the catalog, it's probably not going to be very popular.  It will be a love-it-or-hate-it thing.  It's very powerful, sort of the .44 magnum of pipe tobaccos.

I think I may have concocted the pipe tobacco equivalent of a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster.
View Article  Vintage Gun Ad: Winchester Model 77

I haven't posted any vintage ads in a while, so here's one, for lack of anything intelligent to say.  I don't have an exact year on this one.

I don't know why anyone would want to go to the trouble to skin a squirrel so that the pelt is intact (and apparently tanned).  They aren't worth anything, as far as I know.  We always just slit the skin in the middle and skinned them back toward the ends.  Then chop off the tail and head without bothering to skin those parts.  Then gut it, wash it and throw what's left into the pot.

"Squirrel rifle accuracy" is good for nailing the dangerous tomato-can-on-a-string, too.

Note the asterisk after "automatic," which they are sure to say means "self-loading," not actually "automatic."

In Search of the Second Amendment

The TRUE story of the American right to arms is told by some of the greatest names in American constitutional law -- professors at Yale, UCLA, Fordham, George Washington University, George Mason University, and other institutions, as well as by lifelong scholars of the Second Amendment, such as Steve Halbrook, Dave Kopel, and Don Kates.
