A chronicle of vile and pernicious truths.
About This Blog
The right to keep and bear arms, occasional attempts at satire, frequent recourse to sarcasm, and anything else I can think of. Oh yeah, and pipe smoking. Sometimes H.P. Lovecraft. And obscure Monty Python references when applicable.

View Article  Well, this is a bummer
My child care arrangements fell through for this weekend, so it looks like I won't be able to go to the Blown-Eyed Blodgers thing in Kerrville.

I was really looking forward to meeting some other Texas bloggers face to face.  Especially El Capitan, whose blog I've been reading since I can't remember when.

Maybe I'll still take them to the gun show, since they've both been wanting to go.  I spend so much time there keeping them corralled that I don't hardly get to look at anything, though.
View Article  A book my son brought home
They had a "book fair" at school where kids could grab a couple of books they wanted for free.  All books were donated.  Here is one of the books he picked up.  Oh yeah, he's six years old.

I guess that answers one question.
View Article  The Cottingley Dragon

As seen by the Queen!

No, not really funny, per se.  But p-shopping something odd into his hand was the first thing that occurred to me.  I was thinking about a miniature demon, but the dragon turned out pretty well.

Someone really should p-shop something in on that guy's headdress.  I just couldn't think of anything.

For Cowboy Blob's Weekend Contest.
View Article  Pellets at Wal-Mart

I stopped at Wal-Mart on the way home today and bought some pellets.  When the cashier flunky scanned the box, it beeped to alert her to make sure I was of age.

Ridiculous.  If I am ever elected Supreme Overlord and Dictator-for-Life of the Multiverse, I will put a stop to that practice immediately.  In fact, all kids will be encouraged to purchase their own BBs and pellets and become proficient with their use.  Except for that Mitchell kid next door.  He's a menace.

When I was a kid I used to walk down to the icehouse on the highway while I was waiting for my dad to come by and pick me up after school to buy my own BBs.  Sheesh.

By the way, just now as I was looking for pellet pictures I stumbled across this.  I don't know if this actually improves performance, but I am certainly intrigued.  I don't think they would work in my pistol, but if I ever bought myself a decent hunting-quality pellet rifle I would definitely give them a try.

The newest xkcd made me laugh.

Doubly funny if you're a computer nerd and a history nerd.

In Search of the Second Amendment

The TRUE story of the American right to arms is told by some of the greatest names in American constitutional law -- professors at Yale, UCLA, Fordham, George Washington University, George Mason University, and other institutions, as well as by lifelong scholars of the Second Amendment, such as Steve Halbrook, Dave Kopel, and Don Kates.
