A chronicle of vile and pernicious truths.
About This Blog
The right to keep and bear arms, occasional attempts at satire, frequent recourse to sarcasm, and anything else I can think of. Oh yeah, and pipe smoking. Sometimes H.P. Lovecraft. And obscure Monty Python references when applicable.

Lost America is a sometimes beautiful, sometimes poignant, always fascinating photo study of abandoned vehicles, buildings and places in the American West.  All photography during darkness with digital cameras.  Highly recommended.

Since starting my new job back in June, I have been even more active than before, and my previous job was not sedentary by any means.  I have also (almost) entirely cut out soft drinks in place of Gatorade type beverages.  I was hoping this would help me lose a little weight.

I am not overweight.  However, I knew it would not hurt to lose a few around the belly, and I was hoping for it because I had an idea it would make IWB carry more comfortable.

For the past few weeks I've been cinching up the belt one more notch just before I start moving so my pants won't sag.  Even though it was a little uncomfortably tight, I can't abide pants that sag even a little.

However, this week I can safely say that I have officially dropped one belt size.  I was right.  IWB carry has become much more comfortable.

Humberto Fontova utterly demolishes the lefty's favorite icon:
Cybercast News Service: It's amazing how effectively propaganda can influence people.

Humberto Fontova: Yes. But AT&T buckled. Target buckled. And here's our next one: eBay. They have a policy where they don't allow items that promote hate. So, I'm going to try to sell a David Duke t-shirt on eBay. Now, David Duke has not killed anybody. David Duke has not even advocated the killing of people or the mass jailing of people. But watch, I won't be allowed to sell a David Duke t-shirt. Yet a man who actually with his own hands murdered boys and thousands under his tutelage were murdered and who co-founded a regime that incarcerated per capita more than Stalin, it's perfectly okay to sell him. There are dozens of Che items on eBay.

Good reading at The Liberty Sphere with The Bush Betrayal of Gun Owners:
We would have expected this from a Liberal Democrat. We were not expecting it from the Bush Administration, and perhaps this is precisely the reason we have been thus far ill-prepared to handle the onslaught of an out-of-control, rogue arm of the Justice Department--the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.

Caught totally by surprise, and thus woefully unprepared for an effective and swift defense, the firearms and ammunitions industry has found itself in a fight for its very survival.

The statistics will reveal just how devastating the attacks of the ATF have been.

Since 2002, a whopping 85% of firearms manufacturers in America have been forced to close their doors for good.

Note that the alarming rate of shut-downs of gun manufacturers by the ATF coincides with the election of George W. Bush.

However, the Clinton Administration is every bit as culpable. From 1994-2005, 80% of gun dealers were forced out of business. Eight of those years were under the Clinton Administration.

Nonetheless, the Bush Administration has done absolutely nothing to stem the tide of this alarming persecution, and if anything the ATF has actually turned up the heat in the last few years.
I would say that this is not just a betrayal of gun owners. It is a betrayal of all Americans and a violation of his oath to defend the Constitution.

In Search of the Second Amendment

The TRUE story of the American right to arms is told by some of the greatest names in American constitutional law -- professors at Yale, UCLA, Fordham, George Washington University, George Mason University, and other institutions, as well as by lifelong scholars of the Second Amendment, such as Steve Halbrook, Dave Kopel, and Don Kates.
